Step Back In Time Tours is a Receptive Tour Operator with a Step-on-tour guide service. Jamesport is the largest Old Order Amish Colony west of the Mississippi River. Our tour guide joins your group for an entertaining and educational 2.5 hour tour. This is an excellent tour for all ages and all sizes of groups.
Tours are given in your car, RV or bus, not in an Amish buggy.
You are whisked back in time for an up-close and inside view of one of the strictest Amish colonies left in the world today; they still live as their ancestors did 100 years ago, using no electricity and using horses for their work and transportation. Living in today's modern world, armed with only an 8th-grade education, they continue to survive. Tours include an Amish home, stables, and farm, where an Amish family demonstrates their lighting, heating, cooling, and tools. They answer your questions about how and why they live as they do.
We visit the nostalgic paradise of the Amish country stores, nestled away in the Amish countryside, where you may purchase one-of-a-kind hand-crafted furniture, quilts, jams, spices, baskets, rugs, clocks, books, and other items. Yes, we stop at an Amish bakery. As we tour the countryside, you are greeted by families in horse-drawn buggies. We pass a one room school, farms, a saw mill, deer farms, a cemetery and many other points of interest.
Cost: $40 for up to five people; additional persons, $8 each. Groups of 10 or more; $7 per person. We welcome charter bus groups, schools, churches, bank travel clubs, bus tour operators and groups of all sizes.
Because of the popularity of this tour, reservations are required and should be made well in advance.
