The Missouri 340 is an endurance boat race across the state of Missouri. Competitors will start in Kansas City and finish, some of them anyway, in St. Charles. Participants are allowed exactly 88 hours to complete the course. Visit rivermiles.com to check the rules and register to be a part of the challenge!
There are nine checkpoints along the route where paddlers are required to sign in and sign out. Cutoff times will be associated with these checkpoints based on the 88 hour pace. Failure to miss two consecutive deadlines is grounds for disqualification. With numerous towns and hamlets, the course offers plenty of opportunity for resupply while enroute.
The Missouri 340 course is all on Class I water. At the mandatory pre-race meeting and safety check on August 11 in Kansas City, racers will be briefed on how to read mileage and channel markers, how to handle a tow and barge passage and what constitutes public property on the river.
Racers will pass through Jefferson City Thursday evening and stop at the Carl R. Noren Missouri River Access (Wilson's Serenity Point) in Cedar City. Free for spectators.
