This annual event, held in April, features a tour of the six-mile Dogwood-Azalea Trail, when Charleston glows with the beauty of magnificent dogwoods and azaleas at peak bloom.
The dogwoods and azaleas are the stars of this festival but there are many other activities, including home tours, candlelight tours, a plant sale, arts and crafts bazaar, a parade (one of the area's largest, begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday), an old-fashioned ice cream social, an art show, piano concerts (featuring 16 pianists), and carriage rides. Step-on tour guides are available by reservation only for bus and tour groups.

A Hannibal tradition for more than 50 years, the National Tom Sawyer Days celebration focuses on wholesome family fun in Hannibal, the hometown of author Mark Twain.Visitors of all ages can watch or join in many of the activities, including the National Fence Painting Championships, a frog jumping competition, Tom and Becky contest, Tomboy Sawyer Competition, the Sam Clemens Kiwanis Arts and Crafts Show, Mississippi Mud volleyball, stage entertainment, dancing, food, a spectacular Fourth of July fireworks display, and the famous Hannibal Cannibal 10/5 K run and 5K walk. Events occur in downtown Hannibal. National Tom Sawyer Days is sponsored by the Hannibal Jaycees.
Moonrise Hotel, in The Loop, will host the third annual Green Ball on April 27. Join green-minded movers and shakers in St. Louis in celebrating the 42nd anniversary of Earth Day and the third anniversary of the Moonrise Hotel’s opening.
Proceeds from the gala will benefit the EarthWays Center, a division of the Missouri Botanical Garden that promotes sustainability through environmental education and improving the built environment.

Ameren Missouri’s Pure Power program will provide carbon offsets for travel and electricity used during the ball. Brochures will be printed on recycled paper, and food waste will be composted. Décor will be eco-friendly. Paper and glass waste will be recycled, and tap water will be offered to guests rather than bottled water.
Make sure you carpool – free valet parking will be offered to cars of four or more people. Creative "green” attire is encouraged. An expert panel of fashion and style judges will award “Best Dressed” prizes as well as one grand prize.
