Go to Prairie State Park to explore the prairie while learning about bison. Take this guided bison hike to see what the prairie has to offer at every time of year.
Prepare for a two-hour hike, perhaps longer, across uneven terrain. Binoculars are useful in looking at bison and other wildlife. Don’t forget your camera.
Join us at Coldwater Ranch for our annual Easter Trail Ride. We will begin with dinner April 13, 2014, ride for several days, and end with breakfast April 19. We'll have cowboy church Wednesday night after the pig roast.
Our annual Thanksgiving Trail Ride at Coldwater Ranch will begin Wednesday, November 26 with dinner, and end Sunday November 30 with breakfast. We will ride daily, feast often, and enjoy visiting with our guests.
Join a park naturalist on this adventurous hike to the fire tower on Mudlick Mountain. The hike is moderate, so wear sturdy, closed-toed shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks. The fire tower is not accessible.
Meet in front of the visitor center at Sam A. Baker State Park.

Enjoy a spring guided hike at Hawn State Park. Meet at the Whispering Pines Trail trailhead in the day-use area of the park. Enjoy the sounds of spring and log four miles for the 100 Missouri Miles program. Park staff will guide you through the highest areas of the park into the Whispering Pines Wild Area. This hike is moderately rugged and will go up several hundred feet in elevation through rocky terrain. Bring water and snacks. Call the park to sign up or get more information.
Trail ride your horse through the beautiful Ozarks lead by an experienced guide at Golden Hills Ranch. Ride starts with Sunday breakfast and ends with Saturday breakfast. Sack lunches provided for the trail.
Fully-equipped campsites with covered horse stalls are available; also a motel and bunkhouse available on site. Enjoy a swimming Pool and fishing. Rental horses also available.
This hike, held annually, is four miles through Roaring River Hills Wild Area. You will enjoy a hike through a portion of the 2,075 acres wild area during the height of fall colors. The hike will also tour a portion of Roaring River Cove – Hardwood Natural Area.
Wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water and a sack lunch or snack.

Classes will include caving, rappelling, canoeing, black powder and shotgun safety and shooting, shooting sports, reloading, fly casting and fishing, fly tying, ultra-lite fishing, trapping, archery, arrow making and flint knapping, primitive camping, primitive hunting, camping, outdoors survival, orienteering, Dutch oven cooking, wild munchies, nature landscaping, outdoor photography – beginning and advanced, geo-caching, butter-flying, stargazing and wood lore to name a few.
