Artifacts from Osage arrowheads to Minuteman Missiles trace the history of the area. Bates County is home of the Battle of Island Mound that was fought in October 1862 and marked the first time African-American soldiers fought in the Civil War when the 1st Kansas Colored Volunteer Infantry fought local guerrillas. A large mural and three interpretive panels tell the story of that battle and of Order No. 11.
Eight exhibit rooms and a large TimeLine Room show how people lived and worked: American Indian artifacts; Civil War; coal mining; pioneer memorabilia; veterans and other displays. Sci-Fi legend Robert Heinlein, born in Bates County, is highlighted.
A one-room schoolhouse can be toured. There is a barn for agriculture displays.

This picturesque little town lies between the bluffs, at the confluence of the Osage River and Missouri River. During its prime, Bonnots Mill was a hub for commerce, with riverboats and steam-powered trains supplying the region with goods.
Today, this early French settlement offers a general store, a saloon and restaurant, a bed and breakfast inn, and a wedding chapel. This entire district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Watch the sunset over the amazing main channel view from this renovated (April 2011) three-bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, two-level waterfront condo. The master suite on the lower level has a king bed, TV, private bathroom (shower/tub combo), walk-in closet, and a enclosed hot tub on the deck. The second bedroom on the main level has a queen bed, and semi-private bathroom. The third bedroom is on the lower level; it has a full bed and two twin bunk deds, ideal for giving the kids a little space. The third bath and a half are downstairs, too, so everyone can get ready before hitting the water.
This spacious condo has an open concept on the main level making the living room and dining area perfect for a large family gathering. The dining table seats six (extra chairs available) and bar seating brings four more people into the plan. The lower level also has a family room if you need to spread out. Two decks (one screened) provide a nice view of the lake at the 3-Mile-Marker.
There is an inviting enterance to the unit, too; the welcoming deck is a great space to enjoy a cup of coffee. The unit also comes with a covered 10-foot by 20-foot boat slip. If you have a large family or golf group we have two units at Copper Ridge sleeping a total of 16 people with 13 beds. Copper Ridge is located on the (3-Mile-Marker) beautiful Horseshoe Bend in Lake Ozark with a pool that has a view of the lake. Located within 20 minutes of many area attractions, including the Bagnell Dam Strip and Osage Beach Premium Outlets, Season's Ridge Golf Course, and fine dining options, including the Blue Heron.
This Lake of the Ozarks property features several unique cabins from which to choose: five Tree House Cabins, rustic yet with many conveniences; one Boathouse Cabin next to the private eight-acre lake; the Cedar View Cabin, overlooking the pool; the Shady Oak Cabin (sleeps 12), facing the woods; and the Oar House (sleeps 12), a more private location with full facilities, fireplace and a large deck looking into the woods.

Fabrics and Friends is a working quilt shop, locally owned at the Lake of the Ozarks. The owners, Rita and Laura, actively piece quilts, give lessons, and lead quilting groups all throughout the year. The shop contains many examples of their work, both classic and traditional, and modern and fun. They have a large selection of grade one fabrics from popular manufacturers to use in your quilting project, and a very large selection of patterns. There is always a new class coming up whether it is a new technique, a new tool, the latest jacket or bag or classic piecing. Beginners are always welcome and a new beginners class is always just around the corner. They answer your questions and demonstrate the most recent ruler that will make your quilting life easier - and more fun.
Renovated Spring 2011, this two-bedroom condo has a panoramic main channel view to match. Relax in the master suite, with brand new bedding for the king bed, and deck access. The adjoining master bath (shower/tub combo) has new lighting and hardware. The second bedroom has a queen bed and its own private deck. The second bathroom also has a shower/tub combo.
If you have six people coming, no worries: A queen sleeper sofa pulls out for extra guests. The dining table has comfortable seating for six and there's a gas grill on the deck.Be sure to bring your boat; a 10-foot by 28-foot boat slip included with this unit.
If you need to stay connected, this unit has wireless Internet available. The Falls has two outdoor pools, a tennis court, a basketball court and a playground. We have two units at the Falls complex, so if you have a group of 12 or fewer, this could be your location. This condo is located on Horseshoe Bend off Carol Road or on the 2.5-Mile-Marker by water. There are only three steps down from the parking lot into the unit.
Fantasy World Caverns includes a large underground lake, and a wide variety of formations including flowstone, dripstone, stalactites, stalagmites, helectites, helegmites, soda straws, spongework, cave corral and stromatolite fossils.
There is a customer-use picnic area with grill, overlooking a creek and valley; it's very popular for family reunions and a quiet lunch.

Grant's Landing is a home located in Osage Beach at the 21-Mile-Marker. Great cove location just off the main channel. Includes a two-well dock, plus a large deck overlooking the water, perfect for relaxing and barbequing. The master bedroom opens onto the deck and is complete with a bath featuring a jetted tub, his and her sinks, separate shower and a large walk-in closet. Second master suite also has own bath and walk-in closet. Home also features high-speed Internet access. Four-night minimum during summer season.
Hank's Haven is a four-bedroom waterfront home featuring two master suites, each with a king bed and private bath. A third bedroom features two extra-long twins that can be combined to form a king, and the fourth bedroom features twin bunk beds with a full bed on the bottom and a twin on the top. These two bedrooms share a Jack and Jill bathroom.
The kitchen, living and dining area are all located on the lower level, as is one of the master suites. There is a half-bath and laundry on the lower level. You will enjoy the large deck located off the lower level; small private decks for two of the upstairs bedrooms; and a private, two-well covered dock with swim platform.
Good place to fish, swim or just relax on a raft. Two golf courses, several restaurants and shopping options, including the Bagnell Dam Strip, are within 20 minutes of this home.
Harbor Heights Hideaway is located in Osage Beach across from the outlet mall and by water at the 17.5-Mile-Marker. You will enjoy a great main channel view from either of two decks overlooking the water. Features include two master bedrooms, each with a queen bed, semi-private bath and deck access, a third bedroom with two twin beds and a family room with a queen sleeper and futon.
Other features include a full kitchen, breakfast bar, wet bar and game room with a foosball table and a large deck with a gas grill. Located within 15 minutes of golf, restaurants, attractions (such as Miner Mikes indoor amusement park) and shopping including the 110-store outlet mall with a five-screen movie theater. Home also comes with a covered 12-foot by 28-foot dock with one slip and swim platform.

Hickory Hollow offers a lodge and 16 cabins: one-, two- and three-bedroom units. In addition, we have 86 full-hookup RV sites with 30/50-amp electric.
We have a pool, fish-cleaning station and a pavilion. Located on 40 acres of hardwoods and cedars.
