Kansas City

The American Royal serves up a hot night of cold beer and wine, patterned after The Great American Beer Festival, with an added feature of wine from Missouri and other areas. More than 100 varieties of beer and wine will be available. The event is held inside Hale Arena on the American Royal grounds. Admission includes a commemorative glass and unlimited sampling at all wine and beer booths.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the event. Attendees must be 21 or older. Tickets will be available for purchase on 25 May.

St. Joseph

Trails West is one of the largest event in Northwest Missouri; rated in the top three by the Missouri Arts Council. The festivities include three days of fine art, folk art, dramatic stage performances, reenactments, musical entertainment and food for the whole family. Come experience St Joseph's unique cultural heritage and art works from across the Midwest. Held in Civic Center Park.

Trenton

The festival includes: more than 40 high school bands; a parade; musical field show; a craft and vendor village with more than 200 vendors; quilt show; flea market; baby show; car show; historical tours; dances for young and old; great food; and fun. The event centers on the Rock Barn, a limestone, octagon shaped building on the National Register of Historical Places. Trenton is located on Routes 6 and 65, 90 miles northeast of Kansas City; 100 miles south of Des Moines.

Independence

This event celebrates the starting points of the Santa Fe Trail, the California Trail and the Oregon Trail. This long established festival will celebrate its 37th year over Labor Day weekend. Enjoy live Nashvile musical entertainment, unique festival foods, carnival rides. We will have eight expansive Market Vendor tents, housing quality wares from more than 250 vendors. Held on Historic Independence Square. Free admission.

Sep. 26-27, 2009
Fair Grove

This festival includes more than 300 arts and crafts venders; country music; dancing; entertainment from the 1800s; horse and mule obstacle course; kids games and activities; antique farm equipment displays and demonstrations; and lots of things to eat. There is a parade on Saturday, and a Sunday church service. Trolleys will shuttle visitors to and from parking areas. Fair Grove is on Route 125, just east of Route 65, 12 miles north of Springfield.
