Friendly Competition and Outdoor Fun
Author: H&L Partners
What better way to bring the family closer than with fun games and perhaps a bit of spirited competition? Missouri offers plenty of activities to keep every member of the family entertained. Plus, our natural side is second-to-none. Explore the Show-Me State this fall – we know you’ll enjoy the adventure.

Show off your bowling skills (or just try to avoid rolling gutter balls) when you visit Pin-Up Bowl. This fabulous retro bowling alley, located in the trendy and bustling Delmar Loop shopping, dining and entertainment district of St. Louis, attracts bowlers and non-bowlers alike. Roll a game and kick back with a classic cocktail; there are plenty of kid-friendly menu options, including tomato soup and grilled cheese.

Take your A-game (and an outfit you don’t mind getting dirty) to Battlecreek Paintball. Located off of Interstate 70, five miles southwest of Kingdom City, this entertainment complex includes a variety of family activities, including: Airsoft; laser tag; and (of course) paintball.

Take family fun to new heights at Climb So iLL Indoor Rock Climbing. This St. Louis rock-climbing facility attracts professional and hobbyist climbers. The friendly, knowledgeable staff makes Climb So iLL a great destination for first-timers, too. Learn the basics and build your climbing knowledge in the dedicated training area. Show off your skills on one of the 55-foot climbing walls. On our blog, one of VisitMO’s summer interns posted: “I have been climbing in the past, but, frankly, not at a facility this awesome.” Click here to read her entire account.
Celebrate the beauty of an autumn afternoon with a trip to Runge Nature Center, a Department of Conservation park in Jefferson City. Discover the diversity of Missouri’s habitats as you explore the forest and wildlife resources which are found throughout the state. Boost your nature-knowledge by attending a guided program; admire Missouri’s creatures at the wildlife viewing area; and enjoy a peaceful walk along one of the five trails.

For an entirely different experience, take your spirit of adventure underground with an enchanting tour of Onondaga Cave. This National Natural Landmark is located off of Interstate 44, in Onondaga Cave State Park, five miles southeast of Leasburg. Widely considered one of the most magnificent caves in the nation, Onondaga Cave features remarkable rock formations. The cave is a magical destination for the family.

No family’s fall season can be considered a success without a visit to a corn maze and pumpkin patch. Check both of these off of your list at Fischer Farm's Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Jefferson City. One price gets you access to not only their famous corn maze, but also a straw maze, hayrides, animals and other attractions. (Open thru November 16.)
