Missouri Division of Tourism Photography Contest Rules, Terms and Conditions
The 2007 photography contest is open to United States residents who are 18 years of age or older. No purchase is necessary to enter. Winners may be required to provide proof of age.
The contest will run between December 18, 2006, and July 27, 2007. All photographs, entry forms and releases must be postmarked by Friday, July 27, 2007. Late entries will be disqualified.
A completed contest entry form must accompany each photograph. Entries must be signed and dated. Only entry forms with complete, accurate and legible information will be considered eligible. Photographers may enter more than one image.
Photographs must be taken in Missouri.
Photographs must be previously unpublished. Photographs that have been published in any form prior to entry into the contest will be disqualified.
All photographs, prints or slides, must be in sharp focus. Prints must be at least the size of a standard snapshot (3 1/2 inches-by-5 inches) or larger and be printed on photographic paper. Slides must be mounted. Images printed on ink jet paper will not be accepted. No email submissions.
All digital images must be accompanied with a high resolution print on photographic paper at least the size of a standard snapshot (3 ½ inches-by-5 inches) and a CD with the high-resolution digital file sized at at least 5 inches x 7 inches at 300 dpi. Only one image per CD. Digital manipulations will be disqualified. No e-mail submissions. Images printed on ink jet paper will not be accepted.
Damaged photographs will not be accepted. Prints and slides cannot be stapled. Prints cannot be folded. Neither the back nor the front of the photograph should be written upon. Camera-imprinted data is not acceptable on the front of prints or anywhere on slides. Tape must not be attached to the front of the photograph. Any violation of this provision will result in disqualification of the entry.
Stickers identifying the photograph should be placed on the back of the photograph or slide, and should note the location, event and other pertinent information.
Each photograph that includes identifiable subjects (people) must be accompanied by a separate, signed release from identifiable subject in the photograph. Releases that cannot be verified for authenticity by the Missouri Division of Tourism, for any reason (including missing, incorrect or incomplete contact information on the release form) will result in the disqualification of the entry.
The Missouri Division of Tourism, the Missouri Department of Economic Development and the Tourism Commission or their agents or assigns are not responsible for late, lost, damaged, destroyed or misdirected entries, or for miscommunications, misdirected transmissions, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic.
All entries become the exclusive property of the Missouri Division of Tourism and will not be returned to the photographer. The Missouri Division of Tourism reserves the right to use the photographs in printed materials promoting Missouri tourism without paying compensation to the photographer or the subjects.
Prizes will be awarded only to entries that the contest judges deem worthy. Some prizes may not be awarded if no acceptable entries are received. All decisions by the judges are final.
Any taxes or additional expenses associated with the awarded prizes are the responsibility of the winner.
Winners will be notified prior to posting on the Missouri Division of Tourism’s Web site, www.VisitMO.com.
This contest is void wherever restricted or prohibited by state or local laws.
Employees and family members of the Missouri Division of Tourism, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Tourism Commission and agencies employed by the Missouri Division of Tourism are prohibited from participating in this contest.
Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the judging organization, which are final on all matters pertaining to contests. The return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and selection of an alternate winner. Entrants grant to the Missouri Division of Tourism the right to use and publish their proper name and state of residence online, in print or any other media format, in connection with the photography contest.
By entering, participants release and hold harmless the Missouri Division of Tourism, the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the Tourism Commission, and agencies employed by the Missouri Division of Tourism, as well as any directors, officers or employees of these organizations from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest.
If for any reason the contest is not capable of being conducted as planned, including any causes beyond the control of the administrators of the contest, the Missouri Division of Tourism reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to cancel, modify, suspend or terminate the contest without notice to the entrants.
Entry into the photography contest does not create any vested right or interest for the participants in the prizes offered for the contest.
