Twin Pines offers opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, nature photography and other nature-related activities. A trail through the area provides access to pine-oak woodland and several other forest types. Because of its location in the midst of Missouri’s most productive forests, Twin Pines places a special emphasis on the history of the Ozarks’ timber industry. Displays at Twin Pines include vintage logging equipment, a log cabin and an early 20th century schoolhouse. Other exhibits, such as a restored 1946 Chevrolet panel truck outfitted with a generator and movie projector, celebrate the department's early efforts to spread conservtion messages to Ozark communities without electricity. Youth fishing clinics are allowed by special permit. Hunting is not permitted.
