The Missouri History Museum Library and Research Center houses the premier regional history collection documenting St. Louis, the state of Missouri, the Mississippi and Missouri Valleys, the Louisiana Purchase Territory and the American West. Staff can assist you with the library, archives and photographs, media, and objects collections. Materials must remain on premises; they are not available for checkout.
The Missouri State Archives, created in 1965, is the official repository for all state records of permanent value. The Archives identifies, collects, preserves, and makes available the permanent and historically valuable records of Missouri's state and local governments. With documents dating from 1770, the archives are an outstanding facility for genealogical and historical research.
Located in the James Kirkpatrick Building, two blocks west of the Capitol.
