The Bluff View fire department holds their annual pig roast at Bluff View Marina. Watch the pig roasting on the spit in the morning, and enjoy food and entertainment starting at 5 p.m. The pie and cake auction starts at 6 p.m.
Proceeds go to the Bluff View Volunteer Fire Association. Call for ticket information.

Cape Jaycees will hold a sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society event Aug. 22-23!
As part of the event, the public is invited help judge the “Showmanship” category. Showmanship is awarded to the team inviting the most notice or attention by presenting or displaying entertainment through song, skits, activities, decorations, costumes, enthusiasm and crowd participation.
Judging for the showmanship category will be held from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday evening with the winners announced at 9:30 p.m.
The BBQ Fest continues on Saturday with the competition, but public sampling is not permitted.
This six-course dinner is based on the book, Christmas with Dickens, by Cedric Dickens. It is an evening of bygone revelry centered on a period 1870s English Christmas dinner and readings from A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.

In its third season, the Missouri Barn Dinner series brings one-of-a-kind dining experiences to Powell Gardens. Guests enjoy multi-course dinners with garden-fresh ingredients and drinks in a relaxed setting in the Gardens’ open-air Missouri Barn.

Learn, hands-on, the German tradition of sausage making. Join two-time hall-of-famer Wurstmeister Mike Sloan for this VIP event that's both informative and entertaining.
Mike will show you the ropes of sausage making and cover topics such as, mixing and grinding techniques, ingredients, types of casings, safe handling, smoking and cooking times and much more.
Class is by reservation only, will begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and will last approximately 2-2.5 hours. Tickets are $49 per person and include lunch, a beer and bratwurst tasting, two pounds of sausage (that you made) and a Wurst Haus goody bag.
