Or, $3 will buy you a ticket for tasting and voting for the winners, as well as entry to an Ice Cream Social in the J. Huston Tavern, featuring area residents' best and most delicious homemade desserts. Tasting and voting takes place on the J. Huston Tavern Lawn.
The Bluff View fire department holds their annual pig roast at Bluff View Marina. Watch the pig roasting on the spit in the morning, and enjoy food and entertainment starting at 5 p.m. The pie and cake auction starts at 6 p.m.
Proceeds go to the Bluff View Volunteer Fire Association. Call for ticket information.

Cape Jaycees will hold a sanctioned Kansas City Barbeque Society event Aug. 22-23!
As part of the event, the public is invited help judge the “Showmanship” category. Showmanship is awarded to the team inviting the most notice or attention by presenting or displaying entertainment through song, skits, activities, decorations, costumes, enthusiasm and crowd participation.
Judging for the showmanship category will be held from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday evening with the winners announced at 9:30 p.m.
The BBQ Fest continues on Saturday with the competition, but public sampling is not permitted.
Join Chaumette's Exec Chef Adam Lambay and The Cheshire Hotel's Exec Chef Rex Hale for Part Two of this culinary engagement, beginning first with a visit to Baetje Farms and then dinner at The Barn at Chaumette.
This extraordinary dinner will highlight Chef Rex & Chef Adam's mutual culinary philosophy: great food starts with amazing ingredients, and Missouri has so much to offer! Come to Powell Gardens for an evening escape during the Festival of Butterflies! Chef Jasper's demo begins at 2 p.m. and is included with admission to the Festival of Butterflies. Seating is limited.
