The Visitors Center is housed in the renovated, 1923 railroad depot, overlooking the Missouri River. The depot serves as the Amtrak station for Washington.

The Salem Visitor Center offers area information on events and driving tours; maps; and brochures with information on local attractions. Volunteers assist tourist with detailed travel information for the area. Co-located with the Salem Chamber of Commerce and the Salem Community Betterment office.
