This is the 50th anniversary of our continuous recreations of the bestselling novel, The Shepherd of the Hills, by Harold Bell Wright. When written in 1907, Branson instantly became a vacation destination with people traveling to see the area and meet the actual people from the book. Today, it takes more than 80 actors, 40 horses, a flock of sheep, several guns and rifles, an actual burning log cabin, and a vintage 1908 DeWitt automobile to transform this live action performance into the legend it is.
