This is a log cabin village and museum with a visitors center and gift shop. The site has 15 buildings you may tour, seven of which are log cabins dating to 1820. This was the Bergt homestead and farm; the family lived here for 118 years. Hands-on activities are available to help you gain an appreciation of living in the 1800s. We can accommodate large groups and bus tours; a meal can be prepared with prior arrangements. We are located 12 miles south of Perryville on Route 61; west on Route A to Forhna; then north on Route C. We are 35 miles north of Cape Girardeau. Open March thru November; a live nativity is presented in December. Free will donations accepted.
Greek Revival Courthouse built in 1847 and occupied continuously, making it the oldest courthouse in Missouri still in use. The hole from a cannonball fired during the 1861 Battle of Lexington is visible in the left-most column facade. It is the Memorial to Lafayette County Veterans on Courthouse square.
