Agritourism is a growing industry in Missouri because of the large amount of agriculture in our state. Visit one of our many pumpkin farms, dairies, u-pick patches or orchards, wineries, corn mazes, or Christmas tree farms.

Founded in 1859, this is the country's oldest botanical garden in continuous operation; a National Historic Landmark with 79 acres of beautiful gardens and historic structures. Outdoor and indoor displays include the Climatron tropical rain forest; Kemper Center for Home Gardening; Japanese Garden; George Washington Carver Garden; historic Tower Grove House; and the seasonal Doris I. Schnuck Children's Garden: A Missouri Adventure. Closed Christmas Day.

Set on 915 acres of lush, rolling hills and meadows, Powell Gardens offers breathtaking display gardens, interesting architecture, a nature trail, plus a year-round calendar of special events and classes for the entire family. Garden features include the Island Garden, the Perennial Garden, the Rock and Waterfall Garden, the Wildflower Meadow, a chapel, an indoor conservatory, the ever changing Terrace Gardens and native plantings. The Fountain Garden centers on a 42-foot interactive water feature.

The $9.2 million Heartland Harvest Garden opened June 14, 2009. This 12-acre addition isone of the nation's largest edible, non-farm, landscapes, featuring more than 2,000 varieties of food plants. It is designed to answer the question: Where does food come from and how does it grow? It includes tasting stations, a cafe, a gift shop and a four-story observation silo.

Two-acre public garden with six fountains, more than 350 varieties of perennials, and annual beds that change four times a year; all contained within a stone and wrought-iron wall.

A growing Botanical Center with hundreds of varieties of plants in 21 gardens, covering more than 100 acres. Picnic facilities; grills; playground; restrooms; trails; shelters; lake; arboretum; numerous gardens including the Mizumoto Stroll Garden; master gardeners demo garden; the Gray/Campbell farmstead; South Creek Greenway Trail; Native Butterfly House. Our gardens and Botanical Center are listed nationally with American Horticultural Society.

A 52-acre display garden. In March, 300,000 jonquils bloom; April, enjoy 20 acres of azaleas; rhododendrons bloom the first two weeks of May. Open daylight hours only. There are driving and walking paths. Bring a lunch and your camera. All pets must be on a leash. No plants are for sale. No flower picking is allowed.

Garden, established in 1992, demonstrates the efficient use of water in landscaping. It provides an attractive area for strolling and relaxing in an urban setting.
