During the American Civil War, Missouri existed as a state divided. Some soldiers fought for the North; others for the South. A father might pledge his loyalty to the Confederacy, even as his son aligned himself with the Union. One hundred and fifty years have passed since the Civil War began. Throughout Missouri, we commemorate this major anniversary with exhibits, reenactments and observances. Everyone from young students to seasoned scholars will uncover new knowledge as the history of the American Civil War comes to life. Shouts and songs from long-ago echo across the battlefields, and faded photos tell vivid stories. Don't miss the opportunity to discover Missouri's yesterdays.
