  • May 9: Nature Photography Workshop, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. MDC volunteer, Kevin Sees, is teaching a photo workshop at Twin Pines. Attendees will spend an hour in the classroom and the rest of the time with hands-on work outdoors taking pictures of various landscapes and wildflowers. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for the outdoor portion of the event. Limit 12. Ages 12 and older only. Twelve to 16 year olds must have a parent or guardian present.
  • May 9: Nature Nuts, 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. There is no better time to learn the "art" of fishing than a great spring day. Join the Nature Nuts at our Mule Camp Pond and let our staff show you some of the finer points of the sport. This program is designed for 8 to 12 year olds.
  • May 16: Wild Game Cooking (for ages 12 and older), 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Interested in learning something new, especially if it relates to something good to eat? Then we have something you might find interesting. With our "everyone cooks, everyone eats" method you will get hands-on experience in the preparation of a variety of wild game meats. Limit 30. Twelve to 16 year olds must have parent or guardian present.
  • May 21: Little Stinker's Storytime, 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Do you like bugs? If not, maybe you will after joining us for this month's story, "The Bug Dance." After being introduced to the amazing world of bugs and why we need them in our lives, join us for the "Bug Song" and our "Crazy Caterpillar Craft." The program is designed for the pre-school child.
  • May 23: Wild Edibles (Ages 12 and up), 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Join us to taste nature's bounty throughout the seasons. This program focuses on plant ID, preparation and cooking.
  • May 30: Family Fishing Day, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Enjoy a day with the family and take your family fishing at our "catch and release" Mule Camp pond. Snack on hot dogs, chips and lemonade and have fun with a variety of craft projects and competing in several fishing contests. For this event only, no Missouri fishing license or reservation is needed.
