Underwater pumpkin carving, underwater trick-or-treating and Two scuba dives at Bonne Terre Mine are the perfect location for a Halloween bash.
The first dive starts with underwater pumpkin carving, after which you are led through the underwater Haunted Canyon. Prizes will be awarded for the best pumpkins. Get your exclusive Mine Diving or Underwater Pumpkin Carving certification card (additional $55 each; both for $90).
The second dive is a trick-or-treat night dive. Experience a night dive in the middle of the day (don’t worry; we’ll leave some lights on). Glowsticks pinpoint where the candy bowls are. People who collect the Magic-Candy receive special prizes.
After both dives, we host a cookout with hot dogs and apple cider; have a Best Above Water Costume Contest; judge the pumpkin carving contest; determine who has the Magic-Candy; and have a blast. Bring your own drinks. Space is limited. Make reservations now. Need a dive buddy? Staff divers will be your buddy.

One of the world’s largest man-made caverns, founded in 1860 as one of history’s earliest deep-earth lead mines. This was the world’s largest producer of lead ore until it was closed in 1962. The mine has five levels. The two upper levels are lighted and used for one-hour guided walking tours along the old Mule trails, showing were miners dug with pick and shovel in the 1860s. The lower three levels form a seventeen-mile long, one billion gallon, illuminated lake which is the home of one of the world’s largest inland scuba diving resorts. Boat tours are available on the crystal clear water, with spectacular views of abandoned shafts and equipment. Scuba diving, illuminated from above the water by more than 500,000 watts of stadium lighting, offers visibility of more than 100 feet, in 58 degree water. Diving tours are conducted in groups of nine, accompanied by two guides. Located one hour south of St. Louis, off of Route 67.
