At this site, Union troops defeated the pro-south Missouri State Guard in 1861; it was the northernmost Civil War battle west of the Mississippi River. The site features camping, picnicking, hiking, fishing and boating. The site is located 10 miles north of Kahoka.

Tour the Thome-Benning House free of charge. See the park's website for tour times. Large groups are encouraged to call ahead and check on the availability of staff members.

Tours: April-Oct., Wed.-Sun., 10 a.m.-4 p.m.; Nov.-March, by appointment.
