This website offers information about the history of the Civil War in Missouri as the state prepares to commemorate the Sesquicentennial of the war, which was fought 1861-1865.

Throughout the site, you'll find details about Civil War battles that took places in Missouri, such as Wilson's Creek and Pilot Knob; the people who played a significant role in the war, such as Ulysses S. Grant and Sterling Price; and resources for educators, where links to lesson plans and teacher's guides are available. Information about upcoming Civil War events around Missouri can be found on the site, which also features videos about the war and its impact on the state.

You'll also find information about Civil War-related attractions in Missouri, such as the Old Courthouse, Battle of Lexington State Historic Site, and Calvary Cemetery, to name a few.

Belvoir Winery's tasting room is filled with old-world charm, complete with a full bar. The 40,000-square-foot building is a former Odd Fellows Home, circa 1910. We have lots of space for private events or consider Belvoir for a wedding.

Belvoir, which is French for beautiful view, sits on 170 acres, with breathtaking vistas. It is located in the Odd Fellows Historic District off Route 291. Visit the winery and learn about the 130-year history of the property.

On days we have a wedding at the winery, we close the winery early at 6 p.m., and 5 p.m. in October only. Please call if you would like to check closing times.

The Hall of Waters was built in 1936 and 1937 to open as the distribution point for 10 of Excelsior Springs distinct healing mineral waters. The building is available for tours. It housed the World’s Longest Water Bar, indoor swimming pool, Polio pool, the water department and a spa for both men and women. Today, the Hall of Waters houses the city offices and the Hall of Waters Visitor Center and Cultural Museum, which offers tourist and visitor information along with area attraction, shopping and event brochures. Jesse James, son of a Baptist minister, was born at the family home in Kearney, in 1847. Barely 16, he followed his older brother, Frank, into the Civil War. While Frank was a member of Quantrill’s guerillas, Jesse rode with Bloody Bill Anderson. When the war ended, Jesse returned home and joined other former Confederate guerillas in a life of outlawry.

Jesse’s boldness and flamboyance as a bank and train robber, combined with sensational publicity from newspapers and dime novels, soon made his a household name. A tour through the restored home will take visitors back to where the legend began. Before walking the trail to the farmhouse, a 20-minute movie recaps the history of Frank and Jesse James and exploits of the outlaws. The museum displays the world’s largest collection of James family artifacts. Jesse’s boots and Frank’s surrender letter tend to captivate visitors.

Guests then follow the paved winding trail to the farmhouse and walk along the creek where, as young boys, Frank and Jesse spent much of their time playing. In the yard of the family home is Jesse’s original burial site, the place where his mother once sold souvenir rocks from his grave for 25 cents. Upon completion of the tour, guests can browse the museum's gift shop. A wide variety of books relating to the period are available as well as T-shirts, coffee mugs, and many other souvenirs.
