Discover how a young boy growing up in the small village of Hannibal became one of the world's most beloved authors. A self-guided tour of the Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum properties gives you the chance to explore the Hannibal of Samuel Clemens' youth and experience the amazing stories he created through the power of his imagination. The museum properties include six historically significant buildings and two interactive museums whose collections include 15 original Norman Rockwell paintings and a wealth of Twain artifacts. The Boyhood Home is designated a National Historic Landmark.

Admission is $10 for adults; $8.50 for those ages 60 and older; $6 for those ages 6-17; and children ages 5 and younger are admitted free.

Built in 1893, our beautiful Victorian house, an icon in Mexico, Missouri, was once the home of Allen Percy Green, the owner/operator of the Green Refractory, a world renown fire-brick manufacturer. All our guests receive a gormet breakfast prepared especially for them from our very own recipes; all of which have a balanced blend of flavors that are a unique break from the traditional breakfast. Our ample common areas, featuring more than 5,000 square feet of space, in addition to our hot tub and sauna, provide a place to relax after a long day of sightseeing, or traveling, and guest's surveys reflect a nearly perfect 5 out of 5 in 10 areas, representing an average of 99.7% in customer satisfaction. 

The beautiful grounds covering half an acre and stretching from the front of the house on Jefferson Street to the back entrance on Washington Street provide ample space to stretch out and have some outdoor fun. A multitude of fun things to do both within and outside the mansion provide plenty of entertainment during your visit. With five parks, six lakes and other outdoor activities such as Scattering Fork Outdoor Center, Binder's Hilltop Apple and Berry Farm, hiking trails, and fishing, Mexico offers ample opportunities for outdoor recreation.

In addition to outdoor activities, other attractions such as Presser Hall Performing Arts Center, donated by A.P. Green to the city of Mexico, Audrain County Historical Museum Complex, The Vault Gallery and Missouri Military Academy, to name a few, provide indoor entertainment. Many more attractions and museums, such as the Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City and the Winston Churchill Memorial in Fulton, are located within 45 minutes of our bed and breakfast.

While we do not accept pets, we can provide information on two different pet boarding businesses that are near our bed and breakfast.

Additionally, we can provide special packages upon request including: fresh flowers to be placed in your room prior to your arrival; chocolate dipped strawberries (in season); massage therapy; gift baskets with cheese, crackers and meat; wine baskets from a local vendor; or we can put together a picnic basket or any other special request for a special occassion. A 48-hour work-day advance notice is required in order to provide these services adequately.

Each of our locations provides access to Kansas City's attractions. Each location offers you free local calls, free hi-speed wireless Internet access, outdoor pool, and coin-operated laundry.

Hay's Ten Mile Store is one of the most authentic 'ol time country general stores in the nation. The store was built in 1904. Since then, the structure has changed little. All of the original shelving, counters, showcases, and advertising pieces are intact.

Be prepared to have fun as you are whisked back in time for an up-close and inside view of one of the strictest Amish Colonies left in the world today; they still live as our ancestors did 100 years ago. Armed with only an eighth-grade education and living without the use of electricity, you'll marvel at their use of horses for transportation and work. On your journey, stops are made at an Amish home, stables, and farm where an Amish family member will demonstrate their lighting, heating, cooling, and tools, while answering your questions of how and why they live as they do in today's modern world.

Stops are made at the Amish country stores which are all nestled away in the Amish countryside where you may purchase Amish-crafted furniture, quilts, jams, spices, baskets, rugs, clocks, books, and other hand made items. Yes, we also stop at the Amish bakery. As we tour the Amish Countryside you'll be greeted along the way by Amish families in horse-drawn buggies, pass an Amish country school, Amish farms, Amish saw mill, deer farms, and cemetery.

Amish stores are in the country, so a tour guide is necessary; this is an excellent tour for all ages and all sizes of groups. Buses, churches, schools, bank travel clubs, scout troops, car clubs, all sized groups welcomed.

Because of the popularity of this tour, reservations are required. Admission is $40 per group of one to five people and $8 for each additional person. Group rates are available for parties of 10 or more at only $7.00 per person (gratuity appreciated by disabled Veteran).

Features four themed suites; explore the history and detail throughout the house. On the first floor, guests are welcome in the Victorian tea parlour, ornate dining room and vintage photo studio. The old-time movie theater and several rooms are on the second floor, with views of the surrounding countryside. The mansion is settled on the top of a grassy meadow near two ponds, an outdoor tea patio and dining area. From the highest point in the yard, guests can watch the Missouri sun set over the trees.
