Hidden Pines is an 18-hole championship golf course that will appeal to all levels of play. The long and narrow Bermuda fairways require precision, and the undulating greens will have you second-guessing yourself. All skill levels will be challenged.

The circa 1838 courthouse was the site of the 1870 Old Drum trial, famous for George Graham Vest's closing argument, known as Tribute to a Dog. The oratory is said to be the origin of the phrase "a dog is a man's best friend." Tours offered. A one-room school and the Mary Miller Smiser Heritage Library and Johnson County Museum are adjacent. Admission: $3.
The library exhibits county artifacts. There is a research facility for local history, genealogy, and local records archives. The grounds include: a restored one-room school; the original 1838 Johnson County courthouse; and a collection of agricultural implements and locally manufactured lawn mowers. One of the few historical societies in Missouri to have pre-Civil War records; be sure to ask about how the records were stolen to keep them safe.
Every Sunday (except holidays) there is an open acoustic jam session in the Mary Miller Smiser Heritage Library, 302 North Main from 2 p.m.-5 p.m. The music is mostly traditional, but each week features an eclectic mix depending on players present. All are welcome to participate or just listen.
This 18-hole course, owned and operated by the University of Central Missouri. Located in Pertle Springs, an expansive park area with trails, lakes and ponds.
Knob Noster State Park, off Route 50 on Route 23, is a 3,934-acre area with thick forests, clear lakes and grasslands. Camping, equestrian camping, hiking, fishing, group camps, nature study areas, and an equestrian trail are available.
This park offers basic and electric campsites and equestrian, group camps and special-use camping areas. Services available include reservable campsites, a dump station, showers, water and laundry. The park features a nature center, small lakes, a small stream, hiking trails and an equestrian trail. Camping reservations: 877-422-6766 and online. Campground gate closes at 10 p.m.

The house has two bedrooms, both of which have queen beds. Both mattresses are new in summer of 2013. The floors are beautifully finished hardwood. The full kitchen offers refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, pots, pans, plates, bowls, glasses and several utensils.
Guests have access to a screened in back porch with patio furniture and BBQ grill. The back yard is fenced and is suitable for well-behaved small to medium-sized dogs.
On the highest point in Johnson County, giving the location a panoramic view. So vast is the view, it was commonly used as a lookout point during the Civil War.
Sample our wines and tour the winery and vineyards. Witness a spectacular sunset from the deck. Picnic baskets and snacks available.
