In celebration of Earth Day, join Pomme de Terre State Park staff for a nature hike on Cedar Bluff Trail in the Hermitage area of the park.
Spring in the park is a good time to experience what nature offers, such as wildflowers, birds, various animals and spectacular scenic beauty.
Meet at the trailhead, which is located on the south side of the Hermitage area campground shower house.

This 7,275-acre area owned by the Missouri Department of Conservation is a mostly forested area that provides both hunting and nature-viewing opportunities. Hunting for all major game species is permitted in season. Trails over parts of the area provide hiking and nature photography opportunities. Horseback riding and bicycling is permitted on designated trails and service roads. Primitive camping (no amenities provided) is allowed at designated sites on the area. Dogs must be leashed or confined when not being used for hunting or training purposes. Minimal fishing opportunities exist on the ponds and streams on the area.

Pomme de Terre Lake is an anglers dream; this is the spot for those seeking trophy muskie. No other freshwater fish offers the combination of size, strength, ferociousness, and "big game" appeal than the muskie.
Camping is offered year-round with basic, electric and electric/water sites. There is a full-service marina available, a beach, shelter house, laundry, picnic area and trails. The water, showerhouse and dump stations are seasonal. The park is located at the 7,800-acre Pomme de Terre Lake, which offers special opportunities to catch Muskie. The Springfield Cardinals are the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. They are one of eight teams in the Texas League, along with the Arkansas Travelers, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the Tulsa Drillers, the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Frisco RoughRiders, the Midland RockHounds and the San Antonio Missions.
Home games are played at Hammons Field. Individual game tickets can be purchased by calling 417-863-2143, at the ticket office at Hammons Field, and online by visiting our website. Ticket prices range from $6 to $24, depending on seat location. Season tickets and group tickets are available.
When the Cardinals play on Saturdays and Sundays, the ticket office opens at 10 a.m. On game days, the ticket office remains open through game time.
The Hammons Field gates open one hour prior to game time.
This motel, built in 1940, has individual cabin units with one, two or three beds. There is a picnic area with grills and tables; a game room; horseshoe pits; and a playground. We offer free coffee and rolls in the morning. We now also offer laundry service.
We are 10 miles from Lucas Oil Speedway; 15 minutes from fishing, boating, swimming, hunting, horseback riding and a grocery stores; two minutes from restaurants, bar and grill and gas station.
