Missouri's Numbered Routes Offer Scenic Views
David R. Swimmer
October 28, 2010
(Editor's note: This is part one of a two-part series on Missouri's numbered roadways.) Numbered routes are among the unique treasures of Missouri’s roads. They often connect U.S. highways or interstates to the largely hidden scenic resources of this state. I think of them like a tree trunk on which I can hang the most unusual branches -- picturesque numbered highways -- that this state has in abundance. Some numbered routes aren’t included herein, in that they have been ...

Harvest Time

Continue the tradition by participating in one of dozens of hayrides offered throughout the state this season. At the Schweizer Orchards in St. Joseph, hayrides are offered on Saturdays and Sundays (as are train rides). Kids will love the pumpkin ...
