We have two cabins available for rent. Weekday and weekend packages available. Full shower house located within 100 feet. Cabins sleep up to four adults. We will continue to offer trail rides and boarding. Bring your horse and ride our miles of available trails.

We offer guided trail rides in the hills along the Black River. Minimum rides are one hour; rides can be customized to your request. Bring your horse or ride one of ours. Overnight horse boarding is available. Lessons are available for all levels and all ages. We are on Route K, in Annapolis. There is a bed and breakfast one mile east; campgrounds two miles west.

Younger than 18 must be accompanied by parent and must wear a helmet.

  • Ride: $25, three-mile ride (about one-hour).
  • Lessons: $10; 30 minutes. (Lesson/ride packages available.)
  • Boarding: $10 per night.(Weekly and monthly rates available.)

Flying-R-Ranch Trail Riding

Riding at the Flying-R-Ranch provides a variety of different trails and varied terrain. Trails are constantly being developed with the goal of giveing you a great trail-riding experience.

Nearly all the trails leave camp via three main trails near the stalls. From this point, ride down to the North Fork of the White River and begin your adventure. Bring your horses and enjoy the miles of scenic trails. Covered horse stalls are available.

Flying-R-Ranch is joined on three sides by Mark Twain National Forest. The White River runs through the ranch, offering two miles of river frontage for swimming, fishing, equestrian, and water activities.

We have cabins on-site; they sleep 16. The bunkhouse features air-conditioned, private rooms: six accommodate two people; one takes four people. RV hookups (50/30/20 amp) and tent space also available.

Amenities include a shower house, restrooms and a laundry room. There is a cave on the property which you may explore, for a fee.

Open March-November.

This seventh generation working cattle farm on Meramec River offers horseback riding vacations on gaited breeds: Missouri Fox Trotters, Tennessee Walking Horses and Peruvian Pasos. Take in the river valley, wooded trails and pastures of cattle as you travel at your pace over the countryside.

This is not a "nose to tail" ride; guests have access to experienced, well-trained horses. You are welcome to bring your own horses; we have facilities for guest horses. We offer access to water and electric hookups.

Two cabins are available for rent on-site.

Middle of Nowhere Ranch offers many wooded and open horse trails for the novice or the experienced rider. With more than 800 acres of continuous land, riders can spend hours without seeing the same terrain. Many locations have been groomed for "stop-overs" which could include a meal break or a rest stop for horse or rider.

Large turn-around areas for horse trailers are located throughout the complex, and full hook-ups for RVs, or lodges, are available for overnight guests. We offer fully-equipped lodges with central air/heat, kitchens and laundry rooms. Temporary stalls and pens are available for a fee.

We offer long-term boarding with various rates to fit the owner's needs. A hitching post and water station is available at the main clubhouse, where guests find our restaurant. Horses are available for rent, but advance notice is required. The fee for horse rental starts at $15.

Daily riding rates for people who bring their own mounts is $15 per day, per horse. Riding is available year-round, however our main clubhouse/retail store is only open Friday through Sunday. Advance coordination is required if arriving/departing any other day for riding or staying overnight.

Our facility is located in north-central Missouri, off Route 139, approximately 50 miles west of Kirksville and 40 miles northeast of Chillicothe.

The area contains 3,515 acres at the junction of Boone, Howard and Randolph counties. The 48-acre-lake has a disabled-accessible boat ramp, fishing dock and restroom. Hikers, bikers and equestrians will enjoy the 12.5-mile Moniteau Wilderness Trail. There are 24 primitive campsites on the area. This conservation area is located 19 miles north of Columbia on Route 63; then five miles west on Route F; then 2.75 miles north on Route T; and then one-half mile west on County Road 2930.
